Welcome to Church of the Apostles

 Evergreen, Colorado

Our name implies an ancient and future perspective.  Most importantly, it implies our commitment to the historic, Christian faith of the holy, catholic, and apostolic Church built upon the “foundation of the apostles and prophets, with Christ Jesus himself as the chief cornerstone” (Ephesians 2:20).  We see the writings of the apostles and prophets as exemplary and authoritative for our doctrine, lives, and ministry today. The Gospel they proclaimed is our Gospel, the Gospel of salvation by grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone, to the glory of God alone.  However, our name also looks forward. We want to be a people increasingly living the reality exemplified by the apostles, as we continue “ to testify to the resurrection of the Lord Jesus” (Acts 4:33). Proclaiming and demonstrating the grace, mercy, peace, love, truth, and power of Jesus Christ crucified, risen, and ascended is our primary purpose for being.  In a world of selfishness, we seek to serve Christ and His people.

Along with our outward witness to the risen Savior, we attest to His call to prayer, and through prayer, we worship the Lord in Spirit and in truth in the joy of our new, abundant life. We intend for the proclamation of the Word of God and prayer to be central ministries in our church and central means of our growth and sanctification. We seek transformation through the renewing of our minds, as we are conformed to the image of Christ.  Hence, we seek to be “a place to pray, a place to heal, a place to grow.” There is a place here for you.

We are an Anglican church worshiping in a style that blends the three streams of Word, Sacrament, and Spirit. "Word" represents the evangelical, classically Protestant tradition built on the Bible as the infallible Word of God, inspired by God the Holy Spirit, and fully authoritative and instructive for the Church in all ages.  We also attest to the orthodoxy of the ancient creeds of the church, for we confess them to be expressions of true, biblical teaching.

"Sacrament" reflects the presence of God in his Church through His sacramental reality, specifically in Holy Baptism and weekly Holy Communion. We worship in a liturgical format with the aid of the Book of Common Prayer.

"Spirit" reflects our awareness that God the Holy Spirit gives spiritual life and gifts to those who are born anew by faith in Jesus Christ, who is the Father’s  only provision for our salvation.  The Spirit is the divine seal, the guarantee, of our eternal life.

We desire to manifest and share the best characteristics of these three classic Christian traditions. Our goal is to proclaim and share the good news of the forgiveness of sins, the gift of the Holy Spirit, and the promise of eternal life through Jesus Christ. To that end, we are affiliated with the Anglican Mission in America, a theologically orthodox mission, under the authority and oversight of the Archbishop of the Anglican Province of Rwanda and, thereby, with the worldwide Anglican Communion.
